Case study from CMYUK

BCQ Group large-format division JollyBig is seeing the first fruits from its installation of an EFI Vutek QS2000 in December 2015.

General Manager David Rogers said the company had invested heavily in people and equipment over the last 12 months to service the existing commercial clients of the BCQ Group and to help secure a client base of its own.Z6

He said: “We discussed our growth ambitions with the team at CMYUK and the advice and service we received was fantastic, from identifying the right machine and arranging test prints right through to the installation and user training.

“We went for the Vutek QS2000 because it’s a quicker and wider machine which will complement our existing Fuji Acuity flatbed. The Vutek will act as our day-to-day production machine.”

CMYUK’s Sarah Fenna added: “The Vutek QS2000 was the perfect solution to JollyBig’s requirement for a fast but flexible wide format printer. It offers roll-to-roll and flatbed, high definition direct to media printing with six colour imaging plus white, with resolutions up to 1080 dpi. It has also increased the size of media JollyBig can work with direct, enabling the company to expand its range of products.”

David agrees, saying that the Vutek, installed at JollyBig’s Milton Keynes site in early December 2015, is already being used for a vast selection of products including retail POS, exhibition and interior graphics, indoor and outdoor banners, Re-board furniture, and printed wallpaper to name just a few.

He said: “The Vutek QS2000 has increased our capacity, and we can also now produce work at a larger size and at quicker speeds and ultimately, it’s made us more cost effective. It has also given us the opportunity to attract more retail-based POS work that previously we may have lost out on.

“We will be printing on a number of different medias including paper, foam PVC, acrylics, PVC banner grade, Re-board, ACM plus many more. The Vutek allows us to print onto pretty much any rigid media up to 50mm in thickness, and up to 2m wide.

“We all think print has a bright future, its value has been tested by brands and consumers over recent years and continues to be one of the most engaging mediums ever conceived due to the variety of medias and improvements in technology.  However, it’s up to companies like ourselves and the industry in general to keep pushing the boundaries of what we are capable of producing, to make sure we remain innovative and dynamic! That is what continues to make large format print so interesting.”
