Case study from PPB

Studio One is a UK leading design and wide format print agency. They are visual communication experts that provide distinctive branding and design marketing solutions that deliver a winning impact.

Studio One were commissioned to supply hoarding boards to dress the perimeter fence surrounding the old post office site in Northampton. The fence is required for security and safety whilst the building is refurbished into the new Northampton International Academy School.N-Studio-One-Install-02

The project was commissioned by Northampton County Council who required the hoarding to carry branding to promote the new academy. The site required 38 panels each 1220 x 2440 mm in size with a repeating pattern. The brief was to create a highly visual display to promote the new academy and contain contact details.

Quality was paramount to Studio One; they needed to produce the signage using materials that were reliable, resilient and lasted the duration of the development.

The Solution
Studio One had already worked with PPB (formerly Proctors) for many years so when the new range of proBOND aluminium composite was suggested they knew they would be getting expert advice.

This project required a white matt product with excellent ink adhesion properties. PPB recommended using proBOND Platinum White, RAL 9016 in matt/matt finish in sheet sizes of 2440 x 1220 mm and 3mm thickness with a 0.18 mm skin.

Studio One printed directly onto the panels using its Vutek GS3250 Pro wide format UV printer. They then matt laminated the face of the board for maximum impact and durability.

Key Benefits
proBOND aluminium composite has all the properties required including strength, a brighter white colour with excellent ink adhesion and at a highly competitive price. proBOND is a new addition to the PPB’s product portfolio and has been specifically developed to offer customers a genuine high quality sheet whether it’s for short-term Digital Print projects, or high-end Corporate ID Signage.

The consultative approach, support and material advice provided by PPB ensured that Studio One designed, printed and installed this project to the highest standards as specified by the County Council.

“PPB helped us by recommending the best substrate solution that would meet the exact requirements of a very specific brief. We needed a strong, durable aluminium composite that printed and laminated without any difficulties. proBOND gave us a reliable solution that enabled us to turn this project around in 3-4 working days from site survey to print, lamination and installation.” Danny Golden, Commercial Director Studio One.
