Printer Q&A

What’s having the greatest impact on your business at the moment?

Our website continues to bring new and exciting opportunities. Having updated it recently we are currently experiencing more interest from further afield, a market that we are fully equipped to serve.

Where do you see the greatest wide-format opportunities?

Alongside the typical design, exhibition, advertising and PR agencies I feel countless opportunities for wide-format lie within the retail, education, arts and culture sectors - all of which we currently supply to.

What would make your day-to-day operations easier?

Apart from a fairy with a magic wand? Machinery and technology is changing daily offering efficient, faster and more cost effective solutions. I make it my personal goal to keep updated with these changes, always ready to strike and purchase when I feel it necessary.

Your favourite bit of kit is..?

The Nespresso machine is right up there, however, our 3m x 2m flatbed printer and Zund cutter are two bits of kit when combined enable us to offer a diverse range of products to our clients.

What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given?

It was from my old boss when I first set-up with his blessing 28 years ago, and that was to look after your cashflow, and how right he was.

What are you most proud of achieving?

Looking back, I’m most proud of our smooth transition from a photographic laboratory into a large-format print house. However, I must admit that old habits do die hard and I still maintain my photographic eye and attention to detail.

What lesson does the wide-format sector need to learn?

It needs to accept that this industry continually changes and as suppliers we need to play our part. In my opinion those who succeed do not fear change they embrace it.
