Epson launches A2+ photo printer

Epson is replacing its Stylus Pro 3800 in October with the Stylus Pro 3880, an A2+ photo printer that uses Epson's fourth generation UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta pigment inks. Individual ink cartridges increase the economy of colour printing whilst Epson's patented micro piezo printhead ensures accurate ink placement.

The Epson Stylus Pro 3880 incorporates a driver mode that allows professional users to create bespoke black tones and clear whites. This combined with the three levels of black and the enlarged greyscale of the UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta ink technology, means sharp, durable black and white prints. Epson said the printer has colour stability after 30 minutes.

A wide range of Epson media can be used, including proofing paper and poster-board of up to 1.5mm in thickness. Border and border-free printing are possible in a range of photo sizes from 4 x 6in up to 17 x 22in. The printer can be fed with different papers via three paper paths; auto sheet feeder, rear manual feeder for fine art paper and front manual insertion feeder for rigid media.
