BPIF reworks ‘UK Printing - The Facts and Figures’

The BPIF has updated and republished ‘UK Printing - The Facts and Figures’using data from a range of sources. The new publication provides the following information on the UK print sector:

  • It is the world’s fifth largest producer of printed products
  • Has a turnover of £13.8bn
  • Has 116,000 employees
  • Consists of 8,400 companies
  • Has a gross added value of £5.8bn
  • Made a P.A. capital investment of £700m in 2016
  • Had a positive trade balance of £775m in 2016

A statement from the BPIF said: “We want ‘UK Printing - The Facts and Figures’ to be used to educate politicians, parliamentarians and public servants about the vitally important role print plays in today’s economy. This is why we will be sending it to all MPs and Lords so they can see the value that the printing industry has to the national economy. However we’d also like the whole industry to use it to promote print to their customers and suppliers.”

Meanwhile the BPIF is preparing for Pensord MD Darren Coxon to take up the role of president on 4 July - Members’ Day - having been elected to the post last December. He said: “Highly visible are the quality services the federation provides for member companies and not so apparent is the great work that goes unseen, like the lobbying efforts within government to ensure print and related industries remain at the heart of Government thinking. It is my intention to make a positive difference during my tenure and help to ensure the BPIF stays entirely relevant to the transforming and great industry it serves.”
