Case study from HP

Dublin-based print and signage production company Just Print has praised the impact of its new HP Latex 800W, saying that the printer has enabled it to expand its service offering and allowed the business to move ahead of competitors in a busy market.

Founded in 2007 and operating out of a specialist facility in Ballymount, Just Print offers both digital and lithographic print services, as well as full in-house signage production, working with a wide range of customers from a host of markets and industries.

This far-reaching service offering means Just Print is required to run state-of-the-art, full-colour print machinery at its facility – a business ethos that led to the purchase of its new HP Latex 800W, which was installed in April this year and has since become an integral part of the company’s production line-up.

“We installed an HP Latex 365 a couple of years ago and we were really impressed with the quality of the print, so there was no hesitation in going back to HP when we wanted to add another machine,” Just Print’s Operations Manager Ian Byrne said.

“The primary aim of the new investment was to extend our service offering. The new white ink capability on the HP Latex 800W allows us to stand out in an ever-growing and competitive print market.

“Since its installation, the HP Latex 800W printer has enabled us to increase our output considerably; we use it to print everything from small-run vinyl to full signage fit-outs, as well as any clear vinyl backed with white which can now be done in a single pass.”

The HP Latex 800W printer has a suite of features that enables print service providers – such as Just Print – to be more agile, tackle ambitious projects and take on the highest value work. As well as boosting productivity levels, the printer enables businesses to sharpen their sustainability edge thanks to its eco-credentials.

The latest water-based HP Latex Inks used in HP Latex printers are GREENGUARD GOLD-certified and have been designed to avoid the hazards associated with other inks. Accordingly, they can be used for applications installed in even the most sensitive environments such as schools and hospitals.

With the expanded capabilities delivered by the HP Latex 800W, Ian and the team at Just Print are now looking at how the company can expand into new markets, with the retail sector being one possible target segment.

“We are hoping to extend our services into the retail sector,” Ian said. “Being able to print white saves time and money on reverse-out window vinyl. We are also making gains by bringing back a lot of work in-house which – prior to the purchase of the HP Latex 800W printer – had to be outsourced.

“Our entire production team loves both the simplicity and ease-of-use of the HP Latex 800W; with the majority of parts being interchangeable by the operator, it saves us on down time.”

Ian also praised the role approved HP reseller Diatec played in both the purchase and installation of the printer. “The service support from Diatec was a major factor of staying with HP; their staff are always at hand to help with any queries that may arise.”
