Case study from Guandong

At Fespa 2015, Guandong presented a totally new concept that had never been seen before, destined to revolutionise in-store communication in just a short space of time: Spot Déco. Since then, Guandong and its R&D department have been working non-stop, and over the past three years they have developed a complete range of highly innovative media supports designed specifically for increasingly "just-in-time" messages and promotions. Speed, immediacy and simple installation are in fact the keys to Guandong’s Spot Déco, designed specifically to meet the claim: "Change your message in 1 minute".
"Three years ago we started from our intuition that - in a context where real-time communication rules – in-store promotional activities had to catch up with the rhythms of what we are used to seeing online" - explains Edoardo Elmi, president of Guandong. "We therefore became the spokesperson for this need and initiated a process of culturalization throughout the entire supply chain, from end users to printers; from retailers to distributors". That intuition has now become a reality. It has been understood and adopted by other players and is now a market in its own right, one where Guandong continues to be the trendsetter thanks to the two main assets on which it has always founded its business: listening to the customer and monitoring the trends that constantly fuel Research and Development. All with the added value of consolidated experience and exclusive technical know-how. And now Guandong boasts a unique and ever-broader range of advanced technologically and high-performance materials, designed to be compatible with the latest generation printing systems, from UV inkjet printers to the laser printers provided with the services which, according to Guandong, all the shopping centres will have within the next three years. One of the best sellers is the revolutionary Wally, a perfect example of applied nanotechnology developed by the Guandong R&D department. This extraordinary support is extremely easy to apply on any smooth surface, from glass to wood, metal and paper, and is glue-free, washable and repositionable time after time, thanks to the gripping force of its more than 4 million micro-suction cups per square metre. Another new addition to the Guandong family is the company division Magnus, officially presented at Fespa 2018. Materials that come in sheets, not rolls, and the large format for laser and UV printing has been replaced with A3 Plus, ideal for public places like shopping centres. As Daniele Faoro, Managing Director of Sales at Guandong states, "the revolution is already underway and once again we are ready to lead it". There will be live demonstrations of how to dye sub images onto 3D objects with a vacuum oven, a great opportunity for those who want to break into the promotional products sector. Epson’s latest business inkjet printers from its Workforce Enterprise range will also be on display. These deliver Epson’s signature inkjet technology, with low environmental impact, low intervention and high productivity, to small workgroups to save money, time and energy. “We hope to generate new sales at the show,” says Mr McMullin. “There is an opportunity to educate existing and potential customers and to demonstrate the rapid return on investment and profit potential of our products.”
