In search of the digital originals

Image Reports is looking for print companies that bought their first a wide-format inkjet printer over ten years ago. Did you? If so you could become one of our Digital Originals.

In 2013 we’ll be running a series of articles on companies that have been active in the sector since the early days. Our intention, with the helpful sponsorship of Fujifilm, is to highlight how this vibrant sector has developed over the years and to acknowledge those pioneering companies that have helped make it what it is today – one of the fastest growing, divergent parts of the print industry.

How to take part:

If your company bought its first wide-format (24in or wider) inkjet printer in 2002 or earlier we want to hear from you. It’s easy to do – there’s a Digital Originals form on the Image Reports website (www.x).

You have until 31 October to nominate your company (or another!), at which point the editorial team will draw-up a list of 10 operations considered to have the most interesting and illustrative story to tell about the development of the business during what has been a revolutionary period for print. The successful companies will be notified ahead of the list being published in the December issue of the magazine and on the Image Reports website etc.

In each issue throughout 2013, Image Reports will focus on one of the 10 Digital Originals and provide an account of just what it has taken for that company to get from being an early adopter of wide-format inkjet technology to becoming a successful player in what is now a very different economic, social, technological, business and media landscape.

What we’re looking for:

We need to know some of the basics up front so we can make a call as to which 10 companies might deserve the Digital Originals treatment (see the online entry form).

To be selected as one of the Digital Originals you need to be able and willing to explain your company’s development path and outline the key strategic moves that has encompassed. It may be that you have significantly grown in one area of business, that you have diversified into new markets, that you have changed your management structure, bought into new systems – whatever has got you to where you are now and you believe set you in good stead for the future.

The aim of this campaign is to recognise inspirational companies within the wide-format sector so if you want to be considered as such make sure you get involved. We’re looking forward to hearing your stories.
