Martin Shipp,
Group Operations and Production Director, The Delta Group

What’s having the greatest impact on your business at the moment?

The need to meet narrow lead-times. In this fast-paced market we’re in, efficiency matters. We have to ensure workflows and processes are watertight. This will have significant impact on a clients’ bottom line, so it’s vital get right. We know that time is important to our clients it’s a challenge that we’re always happy to step up to. Having the flexibility and capability within our workforce and technology enables us to adapt with the client as the market evolves.

Where do you see the greatest wide-format opportunities?

Fabric and soft signage is on the increase, which is really transforming the in-store space and delivering a more environmentally-friendly solution. With these capabilities, retailers are able to enhance the overall brand experience for the customer, creating new opportunities to generate revenue.

What would make your day-to-day operations easier?

Quality communication, both internally and externally, is key to success. Continual communication enables clarity, quality and efficiency across each project we do. At Delta, we undertake regular reviews of our internal processes to evolve and improve our offering on an on-going basis.

Your favourite bit of kit is...?

It’s difficult to say - we have 89 devices on our plant list and each one has the potential to provide fantastic solutions for clients. On recognising the need to continue to find innovative ways to set ourselves apart and react to changing client needs, we’ve recently invested in a Durst Rho 312R and a Rhotex 322, which will open up exciting opportunities within the soft signage market. Away from the print technology, my favourite bit of kit has to be the coffee machine!

What are you most proud of achieving?

I’m proud that we can boast a great workforce, impressive technological infrastructure and a passion for delivering positive change for our clients through innovative solutions.

What lesson does the wide-format sector need to learn?

If I told you that they would all be as good as we are! That said, looking at the cost of failed quality is certainly a good starting point, and an area for businesses to make significant savings if changes are implemented.
