Printer Q&A

What’s having the greatest impact on your business at the moment?

Diversity - no two days are the same. It’s about jumping on every project with enthusiasm and vigour.

Where do you see the greatest wide-format opportunities?

Short shelf life, high impact projects - POS that will catch the eye and open opportunities for the next marketing brainwave.

What would make your day-to-day operations easier?

Knowing what the next job will be…but that would take the excitement away. In reality we’d all like the latest technology as soon as it arrives but ultimately we are the ones who determine how easy our day-to-day operations run.

Your favourite bit of kit is..?

Every piece of kit - I’m still very much a print nerd! But I love the DYSS X7-1630C digital cutter in conjunction with the Kasemake software - we find something new to print and cut every day.

What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given?

Turnover is vanity, cash is key!!!

What are you most proud of achieving?

Getting away from the cut-throat rat race that is the litho print sector and becoming a business owner, and achieving ISO 9001 and 14001 accreditations within the first four weeks.

What lesson does the wide-format sector need to learn?

Invest short-term as this sector is at its most exciting stage ever - something new arrives every few months so don’t be tied into long term finance deals that will leave you with out-of-date kit for too long.
