Iggesund Paperboard mill reaches EcoVadis Platinum status

Iggesund Paperboard’s mill in Iggesund Sweden - where Invercote paperboard is made - has been awarded Platinum level status by international assessment company EcoVadis.
This year, EcoVadis - which assesses companies' CSR achievements and has performed more than 65,000 assessments in over 200 sectors in 160 countries - revised its medal thresholds and introduced the Platinum Medal for the the top 1% of all rated companies. “To us, this is a prestigious confirmation that we have a robust structure in our work with corporate social responsibility. Even more important is what it means to our customers; apart from excellent product quality, they can rely on the fact that the product is surrounded by CSR measures that match the product quality,” said Johan Granas, head of sustainability at Iggesund Paperboard. He added: “No matter how modern your machinery is, the final decisions are always made by people. We have started to introduce environmentally motivated objectives for operators. They must know the environmental consequences of daily decisions in production. As an example, this has led to that we reduced our already very low use of fossil fuels by almost 50% in one year. I’m both impressed by, and proud of the innovative actions we have taken, motivated by the fight against climate change.” Iggesund Paperboard is part of the Swedish forest industry group Holmen, a group that several times in the last decade has been listed as one of the world’s 100 most sustainable companies on different sustainability indices.
