Epson launches its first UV LED flatbed and resin ink printers

Epson has announced its first UV LED flatbed printer - the 10-colour SureColor SC-V7000 - which will be available from November. It has also brought out its first resin ink large-format machine - the 64in SureColor SC-R5000.

The SC-V7000 has a 2.5, x 1.25m maximum print size and can handle substrates up to 80mm thick. It has a four-zone vacuum system, ionizer and registration pins as standard. Epson Edge Print Rip software along with UV Flatbed controller software are intended aid print speed and job repeatably.

The newly developed 10-colour inkset includes light cyan, light magenta, grey to provide low graininess, and red for vivid and bright prints.

Tom Owers, pro graphics product manager at Epson UK, said: “This is a robust and affordable UV LED flatbed signage printer capable of fast and quality printing on a wide range of media. The SC-V7000 proudly marks Epson’s entry into the UV flatbed signage print market.”

The SC-R5000 uses a new 6-colour UltraChrome RS water-based resin ink and has three independent heating stations (preheat / platen heat / post-cure heat) to ensure colour uniformity. Four temperature sensors ensure colour is consistent.

There is a bulk ink option of 1.5 litre ink pouches and hot-swappable two set of inks for high print volumes, which is available on the SC-R5000L.

The machine incorporates long-life PrecisionCore Micro TFP printheads and an Advanced Auto Tension Control (Ad-ATC) for highly accurate dimensional stability.
