Fujifilm increases productivity with Fespa introductions

Visitors to the Fujifilm stand at Fespa 2010 saw the new high-speed Acuity Advance HS X2 UV inkjet printer, a material handling system for the Inca Onset family of flatbed inkjet printers that increases output to 275m2/hour, the newly launched Pro-File
process independent colour control system - and saw new additions to the euromedia substrates range.

The Acuity Advance HS X2 doubles the printing area of the Advance HS launched in March. It is capable of printing onto substrates up to 3.05m x 2.5m and up to 48mm thick with minimal heat output from its UV curing system. Proprietary greyscale inkjet printheads means the printer can achieve near-photographic quality images at typical production speeds of 43m2/hr. In 'express' mode, for images viewed from a greater distance, it operates at 66m2/hr. Using an optional roll-to-roll module print speeds of 30m2/hr in production mode and 50m2/hr in express mode are quoted.

The printbed has a dual zoning system with independent vacuum control to hold all types of media. As the substrate can be prepared in one zone while an image is printed in the second, or while the roll media unit is printing, productivity is maximised. The Acuity Advance HS X2 offers a white ink option to complement the standard CMYK set.

For the Onset S20 printer Fuji has developed a handling device that device that can increase output to 275m2/hour. It can place sheets up to 10mm thick, weighing up to 2kg/m2 with precision, giving print registration within 0.5mm. "The handling system will potentially increase material handling efficiency levels by another 36%," said Tudor Morgan, group marketing manager, wide format at Fujifilm. "The system is extremely simple to operate, with assisted loading and automated unloading, and we have had very positive feedback from our beta user, Imprint Creative Print Solutions."

At Fespa 2010 Fuji demonstrated its new Pro-File colour control system that combines Fujifilm Sericol screen inks, Fujifilm Acuity digital printers and ColorGate software to enable printers to deliver consistent colour output across the screen and inkjet processes.

On the consumables front, Fujifilm's euromedia brand, has been expanded with three new products for POS, shop window and wallpaper applications: WonderTack Ghost, a clear PET media which adheres to smooth, flat surfaces without the use of adhesive; RigiTack, a self-adhesive, matt white semi-rigid PVC for applications on smooth or structured surfaces; and SmoothWall Sticky, a self-adhesive, PVC- free, 190g fleece wallpaper that is easy/remove and is fire retardant.
