Durst launches soft signage print workhorse at Fespa
Durst used Fespa 2010 to launch the Rhotex 320 industrial textile printer for soft signage. The Rhotex has been designed for 24/7 operation and uses MEMS technology long-life piezo inkjet printheads to print up to 70 m?/hr at 600dpi in six colours. The unit uses water-based dispersed dye inks which are both environmentally friendly and flame-retardant. They also comply with the Blue Wool scale 7 and can therefore be used in an outdoor application for up to two years and printing does not affect the textile's inherent feel.
The Rhotex can print two 1.6m rolls with different print queues, simultaneously. Other features include an automatic, self-cleaning jet system for continuous industrial printing and a controllable hot air drying system for consistent drying over the whole width of the printed material. Material-specific machine settings can be stored and recalled in the media channel and the dispensing system also includes a fold-compensation device and an antistatic system.
Durst also used the show to introduce the modular Rho 750 series of UV flatbeds. There are three main levels of upgradability relating to productivity: Basic, Presto and HS. The high speed version (HS) is capable of an output speed of up to 180m?/hr.
The Rho 750 has the latest development of Durst's own Quadro Array 30D printheads with silicon nozzle plate and MEMS technology, which ensure highest image quality even for solid colours. It also has six colour, 600dpi image quality and will print roll media and additional colours without loss of speed. The 100% VOC free Rho UV Inks are suitable for a wide range of board and roll media. Ink options include high density white and special effect varnish, as well as Process Colour Addition (PCA).
As part of its Fespa demonstrations Durst also showed a glass decoration system for use with its Rho 700 and 800 flatbed printers featuring organic Sol-Gel ink chemistry.
