Enfocus improves PDF preflight and delivery tool

PitStop Connect 09, released in May 2010, has been updated. The package, which makes it easy for creatives to deliver print-ready PDFs, enables printers and publishers to create Connectors containing PDF specifications for preflight and delivery specifications. It can also be used to deliver other document formats - such as JPEGs or TIFFs - automatically via FTP to the receiving site or directly into an Enfocus Switch automated workflow, in that case no preflight is done.

The Connectors can be branded for designer/creative professional customers and will only deliver files to the owner of the Connector who set it up. Once a Connector is created, printers and publishers can distribute it without incurring additional costs to as many creative professionals as needed, either via an FTP site or by posting the Connector on a website.

“PitStop Connect is typically used by printing companies that want to streamline their communication and not go back and forward to the client several times about corrections,” said Kristof Kemseke, product manager at Enfocus. “With the release of update 1, users can save even more valuable time, particularly when they want to update Connectors."

PitStop Connect 09 update 1 is the first enhancement to this tool and free to all existing PitStop Connect users. “From listening to our customers' feedback, we learned they wanted to streamline the process of updating Connectors so we’ve made that possible,” says Kemseke.

PitStop Connect users that distribute Connectors also want to update their Connector over time. In that case they can put the new version on their FTP server. The Connector will notify everyone who has installed that particular Connector that the new version is available for download. The installed Connector has built-in intelligence that continues to monitor where it came from. It also detects when a new version is uploaded and tells the creative professional where to find the new version.

For the creative user, a key benefit of update 1 is that they will receive continuous feedback when a file is being processed. The main window shows who will receive the files and a progress bar initiates what’s happening, while the log tracks every step. Essentially, the user knows what is happening every step of the way.

PitStop Connect 09 update 1 also extends the support for jobs containing multiple files. It allows metadata information to be entered once and is applied to every file.

Existing PitStop Connect 09 users can download update 1 for free from the Enfocus website. PitStop Connect can be purchased through Enfocus resellers and distributors or directly from the website. A trial download is also available. www.enfocus.com <http://www.enfocus.com> .
