Agfa Graphics launches modular Jeti 3020 Titan

The SGIA show in the US has seen Agfa launch the Jeti 3020 Titan, what it is calling “a truly future-proof wide-format print solution which enables display producers to balance their investments, inline with business growth”. The UV-curable flatbed printer has been designed and constructed using a modular format so that, as users' demands increase, the machine’s colour and speed capabilities can be extended.

The entry-level version of the new printer incorporates 16 Ricoh Gen 4 greyscale printheads for fast, high quality CMYK output at a native resolution of 600dpi and able to deliver 1200dpi for photorealistic image quality. The machine has a maximum print area of 3 x 2m prints up to 113m2/hr. It can be configured from a minimum of 16, up to a maximum of 48 greyscale heads, according to individual requirements, with a maximum print speed of 226m2/hr. The standard CMYK configuration can be extended with double the initial printhead arrangement for high-speed throughput, along with other colour options.

Additional ink choices for the Jeti 3020 Titan include light cyan and light magenta for better image rendering, double white, white and clear varnish to add an artistic touch, or orange and green to extend the colour gamut.

Designed as a completely new concept in wide-format printers, the Titan's flatbed architecture and solid vacuum table work with flexible and rigid materials up to 5cm in thickness.

Agfa has also incorporated a new electronics' platform, which not only makes processor upgrades simple to carry out but also provides online interactive diagnostics and monitoring.

Agfa has also used SGIA to introduces the Jeti 3348 HSS roll-to-roll printer which integrates the company’s new TurbTech drying technology and runs at up to 3.25m. Its 300 dpi resolution and four-colour output makes it a highly productive solution. It has a special back-lit option enabling printing on both sides of the media, and the inclusion of mesh capability with a collector trough now means that porous materials, such as meshes and digital textiles, can be printed.

The Jeti 3348 HSS benefits from the latest linear motor drives which deliver digitally accurate high-speed motion at up to 2m/second. Formerly only used on Jeti UV-curable printers, this feature provides the speed and accuracy essential when outputting jobs at production speeds of 232.25m2/hr.

Announcements at SGIA also confirm that Agfa has incorporated new greyscale technology and faster production modes in the latest revisions to its M-Press Tiger digital press. This latest upgrade means the M-Press Tiger can now output up to 1,267m2/hr. The addition of Agfa's latest UPH 2 (Universal Print Head) greyscale technology enables the M-Press Tiger to print with variable drop sizes as small as 10pl.
