New cast vehicle wrapping films from 3M

For short- to long-term vehicle graphics applications two new films have been introduced by 3M: Controltac Graphic Film with Comply Version 3 Adhesive IJ180Cv3-10 and 3M Scotchcal Graphic Film with Comply Version 3 Adhesive IJ170Cv3-10.

Controltac Graphic Film IJ180-10 has long been used to produce short- to long-term graphics applied to commercial vehicles such as trucks, vans and buses and it is a preferred product of specialist converters. The addition of 3M Comply Version 3 Adhesive technology, means that during application of the film, air can escape through micro-replicated channels beneath the surface to greatly reduce the risk of bubbling, stretching and cracking and to ensure a smooth finish.

The permanent grey-pigmented pressure-activated adhesive facilitates the precise positioning of graphics until force is applied to ensure perfect results every time, while the adhesive’s excellent concealing power enables visually stunning graphics with no ‘show through’. Furthermore, the 50-micron white gloss film provides an excellent gloss finish, has no curing time to minimise vehicle downtime and can be purposely removed quickly and without any adhesive residue from automotive clear coats by the use of heat.

Complementing Controltac Graphic Film with Comply Version 3 Adhesive IJ180Cv3-10 and offering similar performance capabilities, Scotchcal Graphic Film with Comply Version 3 Adhesive IJ170Cv3-10 has been developed specifically for use where cost is a deciding factor and is more suited to applications involving flat or moderately curved surfaces.

Both films can be converted using digital and screen-printing processes. They are available from 3M primary stockists William Smith and Spandex.
