Fujifilm launches Uvistar II

Fespa Digital saw the launch of Fujifilm’s second-generation Uvistar superwide format printing series. The Uvistar II, in combination with Fujifilm’s Uvijet QK inks, is particularly suited to producing superwide format print for both display POP and outdoor advertising markets without experiencing any loss in production.

The Uvistar series, launched in 2010, has throughput speeds in excess of 350m2/hr, and on substrates up to 5m wide. Fuji said that while generation one machines were ideal for outdoor applications where the vibrancy of the inks and the associated materials, including polyethylene, worked well together, the new second generation Uvistar II has been developed to meet the growing demands of indoor applications where viewing distances are closer and rigid materials more commonly used.

One of the major new advancements within the second-generation device is the use of a unique parallel drop size (PDS). This allows an increase in print quality without compromising speed or ink coverage. This technology enables users to print the current drop size of 40pl together with 20pl drops.

Other improvements to the design include printhead heating to make the resulting ink density more uniform, and the ability to print both flexible and rigid substrates double-sided through changes to the mechanics and the addition of linear motors  - all without loss in production.
