Icon Graphics takes UK's first QS3220

Icon Graphics in Bletchley has bought the UK's first EFI Vutek QS3220. Director Neville Tosar said the flexibility of the roll-to-roll/flatbed UV printer, its 3.2m width and high production speed (up to 84m2/hr) make it the right machine for the growing company.
With a staff of ten and a turnover of around ?1m, Icon, which specialises in large-format print including retail/POS work, exhibition/events, hoardings, vehicle graphics, wraps, wallpapers and canvas prints, needed extra capacity.

"For us the market is growing, especially on the bespoke side of things," said Tosar. "We are taking on more roll-to-roll and rigid work. The fact that the new Vutek can handle both types and has that 3.2 width made it an ideal choice. Plus it has an important white capability - we're really noticing more people wanting that facility. And it's fast. We expect to take of higher volume work that goes up against screen print."

The EFI Vutek QS3220 joins a range of other printers at Icon, including a Pressvu 200
Mimaki JV33, Canon imagePrograf 9000s, Epson Stylus Pro 9800 and Gerber Edge FX. The printer employs EFI Vutek's High-Definition Print (HDP) to deliver up to 1080dpi in six-colours with a seventh white ink channel.
