HP announces two new PageWide machines

HP has announced two new 6-colour, 2.8m wide PageWide thermal inkjet printers for pre-print corrugated packaging - the HP PageWide T1190 and HP PageWide T1170. The flagship PageWide T1190 is said to offer 67% more throughput than the current PageWide T1100S, delivering up to 305m/min. The T1170 prints at up to 183m/min in 6-colours, compared with four-colour printing at the same speed on the PageWide T1100S.
Both the T1170 and T1190 - which use HP A30 water-based inks - are suitable for both coated and uncoated media, from 80gsm to 350gsm. HP Multi-lane Print Architecture (MLPA) splits the web into multiple print lanes, so different jobs, with different box sizes and run lengths, can be printed in individual lanes. Multiple ultra-short or short runs can be queued and printed together while a long run is printed in another lane. The first PageWide T1190 Press will be a field upgrade to the T1100S that DS Smith is installing in its Fulda, Germany plant.
