Lick expands digital print operation with Topcopy acquisition?
Lick Digital, the digital division of marketing and fulfillment company the Lick Group, has bought Leeds-based digital print firm Topcopy. Together the operations will employ over 20 people and have a combined turnover estimated at ?1.5m.
15-year old Topcopy, a digital on-demand print company with a current turnover of over ?1m, will retain its name for the near future to avoid confusion for clients whilst being integrated into the Lick Group which currently comprises four divisions: Lick Digital, Lick Direct, Lick Online and marketing agency, Lick Agency. Lick Digital will move from its current site in Gildersome, Leeds, to be housed at the Topcopy HQ on Burley Road, Leeds.
Andrew Brown, Lick Group operations director will be heading up and overseeing the new combined companies to ensure the Lick Group culture is successfully transferred to Topcopy employees - all of whom will continue to work within the business.?
Linden Kitson, group managing director of the Lick Group said Topcopy acquisition is a major milestone for the company moving forward.?
"Like any business the recession has been extremely tough and the Group as a whole has taken numerous hits as a result. However, the digital print division was something we had been looking to expand for some time due to the resilient nature of the work and the increased demand for services. We approached Topcopy early this year as a potential acquisition, noting how the company would enhance and compliment the existing offering at Lick Digital. For four years now, Topcopy has been run and managed remotely and owners PAC were happy to sell, mainly due to the fact it wasn't their core business.?
Kitson added: "Lick Digital and Topcopy will work together moving forward to offer an increased proposition of digitally printed services. Machinery includes a large-format Chromapress, HP Designjet printers and Xerox machines. Clients can look forward to business as usual throughout the merge of the businesses and of course customer service and quality will be of a usual exceptional standard."
Lick Digital current service clients from a variety of sectors including HM Prison Services, National Union of Minors and Leeds United FC.
