Kall Kwik Norwich diversifies with Roland Soljet XC-540MT
Kall Kwik Norwich has bought a Roland Soljet XC-540MT wide-format inkjet printer to help it diversify. The machine, supplied by PaperCo, features white and metallic inks in addition to the four process colours, and it can die-cut inline.
"We had one large-format printer but it used inkjet dye-based inks and not solvent-based inks and we wanted to be able to handle a wider range of substrates," said Pippa Redmond, director. "The die-cutting means we can now create simple or intricate shapes and whacky marketing designs for all types of stickers. Then the flood white also enables us to produce window stickers and graphics which can be printed both sides while metallic colours enable customers to give lift to their logos or products and for the first time ever it is now economical to print metallic colours in very short runs including one offs."
Kall Kwik Norwich handled its first metallic job last week - an order for ten 3 x 12ft outside banners to promote the Eastern Daily Press's biggest two day Wedding Show in February. It features both gold and silver work.?
Redmond added: "You apply the silver and then use the process colours to create gold or any other metallic colours you want. It will be ideal for the events, conference and business theatre productions, the motor industry, retail industry, seasonal promotions, the leisure and entertainment industry, and it will be a fabulous new tool for the graphic designers to create new and dazzling design for their clients to promote their own businesses and so much more cost-effective at low runs than litho, foiling and other print alternatives."
Kall Kwik Norwich hopes that once it has bedded the machine in fully it will be able to offer a trade service to other franchisees and printers.?
