BAPC highlights challenges for 2010

According to the latest BAPC Mini Survey of members the last quarter of 2009 saw a balance between the amount of printers busier than in the previous six months and those who saw work drop off. 38% said they were busier, the same proportion that said things had slowed down - the other 24% said levels of work were relatively unchanged.

Unsurprisingly, attracting more business came out top of the list of greatest challenges printers expected to have to face in 2010. Retaining business came next, a measure of the uneasiness in the current market - the concern ranked lowest in the list of challenges at the same point the previous year. Yet combating the economic climate came only sixth in the list, ahead it lying: implementing a marketing strategy; improving productivity; and fighting falling margins.

Other challenges, in order of concern, included: improving staff performance; reducing operating costs; attracting qualified staff, Web-to-print and environmental issues.
