PrintExpress saves the day

Brunel University's prestigious annual design and engineering exhibition Made In Brunel has been saved from disaster by London-based print supplier PrintExpress.co.uk. The company swooped in to provide top-quality posters and banners at the last minute after Brunel's print supplier pulled out.

Screen aims to hit customer sweet spots at Fespa 2010

Screen will showcase new imaging capabilities of two of its large-format hybrid inkjet printers - the 2.5m-wide Truepress Jet2500UV and the 1.6m-wide Truepress Jet1600UV-F - at Fespa 2010. Visitors will see the Truepress Jet2500UV producing images on roll-fed and flatbed format material at up to 1,500dpi using its high resolution greyscale printhead with new multi-layer function. The ability to print multiple layers has been improved from two to five; this enables the production of sophisticated graphics such as images that can be viewed from both sides on transparent material. Without feeding the media a second time, the Truepress Jet2500UV will print the image layer, then white, then black, then white again before the final image layer.

Profiling solution for Epson LF printers

From Color Confidence comes ProfileWriter, a profiling solution developed specifically for the Epson Stylus Pro 7900S and 9900S large-format printers. The respective printers include the Epson SpectroProofer which is designed to provide built-in colour verification and calibration. ProfileWriter communicates directly with the SpectroProofer to produce ICC profiles.

ixPressia brings out wide-format VDP/customisation solution

At Fespa 2010 you will be able to see a new easy-to-use stand-alone program designed to simplify the production of customised and variable data printing for display producers, designers and sign-makers. The ixPressionist package comes from Cambridge-based software specialist ixPressia and enables individual and versioned elements, such as text, images and barcodes, to be incorporated automatically into wide-format applications as well as for a host of smaller jobs, such as labels, stickers and decals.

2.6m direct-to-textile printer from Mutoh

Mutoh's first 2.6m (102in) wide direct-to-fabric printer has emerged in the shape of the Viper TX 100. The machine, which will be presented to the public at Fespa 2010, has built-in switchable and rotatable print bed, enabling both direct-to-fabric printing and transfer paper printing (sublimation). With a top speed of 76m/h (production speed up to 36m/h) it is aimed at volume producers of soft signage, garment/apparel and industrial applications such as home furnishings.

Hollanders rejects trade shows for in-house demos

Well-known textile printer manufacturer Hollanders Printing Systems will not exhibit at Fespa 2010 having taken the decision to run a permanent exhibition of its products at its demonstration centre in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

Compatible with Mutoh's entire range of dye sublimation and direct to fabric printers up to 65in wide (Viper, Viper Extreme, Viper TX and Viper TX Extreme) the UniFixer 65 is suited for to the production of indoor and outdoor banners and flags, promotional apparel, decorative fabrics etc.

IGS release further detail on Elements printers, inks and materials

IGS UK has begun to drip feed details of the Elements family of green wide-format printers it will debut at Fespa 2010. These new printers have been designed to incorporate water-based, yet durable, eco-friendly ink formulations with the added benefit of an environmentally aware range of FSC certified materials and specially configured Rip. During 2010, IGS UK plans to introduce five members of the Elements family, which comprises four dedicated roll-fed machines and one flatbed printer, all of which carry the same environmental credentials.

Fespa wrap stars to take home fantastic prize haul

The winners of the live Fespa Wrap Cup vehicle wrapping competition at Fespa 2010 will be showered with prizes courtesy of sponsors Avery Dennison, Mutoh, Digital Designware, Geiger Cars, Mimaki, Rob Ivers, Royal Sovereign, Ude, Cadlink, Eurosystems and DPS. The top prize will be a Mutoh Rockhopper 3 Extreme wide-format printing system with a value of nearly ?18,000. Second prize will be a Royal Sovereign laminator RSC-1400H, including auto feeder and rewinder with a value of approximately ?5,500. The third prize winner will take home a Mimaki vinyl cutter worth ?3,500, while the fourth prize supplied by Avery Dennison is an Apple iPad worth ?800.
