Eurostand brings DL Plus roll-ups to market

A range of interconnecting roll-ups has been launched by Eurostand Display. At the heart of the DL Plus system are freestanding roll-up displays with an image size of 2000mm high x 850mm wide, but it's a new connecting system that links them together that makes this an interesting solution.

"Printers should not sell printing", said Professor Frank Romano ahead of an Ipex 2010 Great Debate exploring how printers should be selling print. Instead, printers should sell solutions to their customers' promotion and marketing problems. "Print is a commodity because all printers have great quality and great service, so the major differentiator is price. Solutions are a profit opportunity because they emphasise value-added services, like database, creative, and fulfilment."

J&G waste scheme to boost recycling at Sun Chemical UK sites

Sun Chemical has appointed Blandford-based print waste specialist J&G Environmental to manage waste and boost recycling rates at its ten UK manufacturing plants. The ?1m contract will involve the collection of a wide range of waste streams and customer returns, including inks, solvents, coatings, packaging and plastic and steel barrels. Much of the waste will be transported to the huge Cadishead, Manchester, waste handling centre run by J&G's parent company Cleansing Service Group (CSG), which operates advanced specialist treatment and disposal facilities for print waste.

HP invite to digital transition event

HP Scitex is running an event entitled 'Leading the Analog to Digital Transition' at its Barcelona site on 10 - 12 March. The event will not only include product demonstrations in private sessions, product tours and various talks by HP specialists, but also a number of customer testimonials on the use of the FB7500, FB6700 and TJ8350.

Mimaki offers trade-up scheme

Mimaki distributor Hybrid is knocking off up to ?8,000 on certain core wide-format printer ranges in a spring promotion. The trade-up, which includes the JV33, CJV30 and JV5 machines, is available through Hybrid's authorised reseller network.

DPI appoints Butler to technical role

Display solutions provider Digital Print Innovations (DPI) has appointed inkjet technology and colour expert Richard Butler as technical director. The company said Butler's authority in installation, training and colour management of wide-format systems is endemic to the quality of service that it provides across a range of machines, including the Meital and WP Digital UV-curable flatbed printers for which DPI has exclusive distributorship.

GPT uses Sign and Digital to show off Mimaki and Shiraz latest

Graphic Printing Technologies (GPT) will use its stand at Sign and Digital UK in April to show-off the new Mimaki UJF-3042 A3 UV cure printer. The rest of the Mimaki range, including the UJV 160 roll-to-roll and flat sheet UV-curable printer with the CF1218 flatbed cutter, will also be on show. In action will be the Mimaki JV33, CG160FX II cutter and the CJV30 160 combination printer and cutter solution.

Adobe Theatre returns to Sign and Digital UK

Details have now been released of the Adobe Theatre sessions taking place at Sign and Digital UK at the NEC in April. Hosted by Terry Steeley from Iridius, demonstrations, tips and creative solutions for using Adobe Creative Suite 4 will be available including Adobe Bridge, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro. In addition, representatives will be on hand from Apple, giving a session on getting the most out of Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard.

DYSS moves LG's TV production into wide-format digital print?

DYSS, the Korean manufacturer of UV direct-to-media printers, has supplied 24 Apollo RF260 2.6 x 1.8m flatbed UV printers to electronics giant LG so that it can add differentiating graphics to the frame of its TV screens.
