Shiraz Software seeks to grow distribution channels with new business development manager

London-based Shiraz Software has announced the appointment of Tom Mooney as business development manager. Mooney, who brings in-depth technical knowledge of print production and extensive account management experience to his new position, will head up the company’s initiative to identify and appoint new distributors in key territories world-wide, including France, Germany, Russia, Turkey and Eastern Europe, renewing sales and service channels for customers in those countries.

HP Scitex LX800 is an instant success at Magraf

Brussels-based Magraf has moved much of its roll-fed indoor and outdoor work onto its HP Scitex LX800 3.2 m machine, the first such unit to be installed in Benelux. Situated in a residential area of the Belgian city, the company’s move to HP’s latex printing technologies was driven by the desire for greener production options with no odour and the ability to output to more polyester-based materials.

Greek sign manufacturer Georgiadis Colorsign has installed a UV-curable Manta from Grapo Technologies. With its 3 x 2 m flat-bed design and the ability to handle media thicknesses up to 60 mm, the Manta can print directly on rigid, heavy and odd-shaped materials including those with structural surfaces such as wood, metal, Plexiglass, glass, ceramic and carpet.

Agfa acquires Pitman and boosts industrial inkjet offering

Agfa Graphics has signed an agreement to buy the assets of the Harold M. Pitman Company, a US supplier of prepress, industrial inkjet, pressroom and packaging printing products and systems. Via the acquisition Agfa Graphics will add a vast range of media, new inks and wide format-printing systems to complement its own developed industrial inkjet offering.

Instant PDF 09 from Enfocus

Enfocus has launched Instant PDF 09, the latest version of its tool to produce press-ready, certified PDFs. The latest release comes with support for Adobe CS 5 and QuarkXPress 8 applications, as well as the latest industry standards. Instant PDF 09 is now also compatible with Windows 7 and Mac version OS X 10.4.11 to the latest 10.6, now including 64-bit compatibility.

Niggemeyer invests in Fujifilm Uvistar

Fespa 2010 seen as springboard to decision making
