Ink performance, media flexibility and consistent colour control have been key considerations in Kaylee having ordered a Fujifilm Acuity Advance Select X2 to replace its outdated digital flatbed equipment.

Durst, which introduced the Rho 2012 UV flatbed at Fespa 2013, showed off the higher productivity Variodrop version for the first time at the SGIA show. The initial unit had a 12 picolitre drop size and could produce up to 490m2/hr at 1000dpi. With the Variodrop greyscaling technology the drop size changes to 20 picolitres and the printer is said to be up to 25% more productive.

Mimaki has added the Tx500-1800B high-speed textile printer to its offering. The machine, which includes a tensionless conveyor belt to feed the fabric - enabling high quality printing on elastic materials, even with unattended operation - prints at speeds 1.6 times greater than conventional Mimaki textile printing products at 60m2/hr and 600 x 450 dpi. It can handle a wide range of textiles including cotton, silk, hemp and rayon.

A team of InPrint ambassadors has been put together ahead of the inaugural event next April. They will play an active role in the development of the show and the promotion of the event to the manufacturing and print sectors.

Crest Dutch Machinery has brought out a 3.2m cutter, called the RSC 3200 Ci, which has been developed specially for cutting textile media though it will also cut other substrates such as paper, foil and PVC. It can be used in manual, semi-automatic or automatic mode. An optional available hot cutting system allows for cutting textile without fraying.

Reprocentre has become the official dealer for Josero in Ireland. It will be sell the full range of Triangle inks as well as Josero’s other products such as the bubble free applicator, laminators, refurbished superwide printers and spare parts for wide-format printers.

Fespa has kicked off its ‘Dive Deeper Into Digital’ marketing campaign for next year’s digital show in Munich. As part of that marketing push the event website www.fespadigital.com has now gone live. The site will also include information about Fespa Fabric and European Sign Expo (once launched), which will be part of the wider Fespa Digital event at Messe Munich, Germany, from 20 to 23 May.

EFI is using the 2013 SGIA Expo in the US this week to introduce the Vutek GS3250lxr Pro, its first dedicated roll-to-roll printer to incorporate the company’s LED cool cure technology. The machine has a 1,000 dpi resolution and three-layer white ink printing.

William Smith will run an open day on 23 October at its Barnard Castle site. The ‘Did You Know?’ event will highlight its manufacturing facility where many of the machines and equipment the company supplies are used in-house producing signage and graphics for the trade.
