Roland Creative Centre shows off wide-format applications

Roland DG (UK) has opened an innovative Creative Centre as its UK headquarters in Somerset. The facility shows all of the company’s wide-format solutions in a walk-through layout, with families of machines complemented by examples of applications.

Italian Pixart partners with UK’s Precision Printing

Venetian Web-to-print trade printer Pixart has partnered with Precision Printing in Barking, Essex to provide a UK-based service called pixartprinting.co.uk. The move is part of a wider rebranding which sees pixart.it become pixartprinting as the fast growing company moves out of what CEO Matteo Rigamonti refers to as a “trial mode with foreign markets” and aims to take more work from outside Italy.

Manta Slim in the limelight

The newly-launched Manta Slim stole the limelight when shown by Czech manufacturer Grapo Technologies at Viscom in Germany. “Printers were impressed by the attractive price of € 51,900,” said sales director Branislav Oravec. The UV ink Manta Slim has a printing size of 2 x 1.5m and can print at 720dpi on a range of rigid materials, including: foam board, cardboard, plastic, wood, metal, glass etc.

AXYZ improves its CNC router capability 

Owners of CNC routing machines supplied by AXYZ International can now benefit from a new AXYZ Vision System (AVS). It uses a low-cost camera that can be easily mounted on the head of the machine, either as an optional new production feature or as an upgrade to existing installations

Amari Digital Supplies has introduced two new ranges of media from the Portuguese company Digidelta. The Decal Ashesive:Think Green and Décor.Tex textile wall covering ranges are now available exclusively in the UK from ADS.

Mimaki receives five prestigious SGIA awards

At the recent SGIA Expo in the US, Mimaki scooped five awards. The Mimaki JFX-1631plus and its smaller sister machine, the JFX-1615plus both received separate awards for ‘Best grand-format roll-to-roll UV-cured ink’ and ‘Best flatbed rigid with white ink UV below $200K’ respectively. The Mimaki JV33-160 and its bigger brother, the 2.6m wide JV33-260, both received awards for ‘Best poster size solvent or latex printer’ and ‘Best grand-format roll-to-roll solvent or latex ink’ respectively. The final award,  ‘Digital inks - best digital ink - flexible UV inks for backlit/display’, went to the LF-200 inkset that runs on the LED cure UV machines. 

Fespa announces textile conference dates 2011

Fespa will host the third of its Digital Textile Conferences on 24 February 2011, alongside Fespa Americas in Orlando. The organisation will also host the conference at Fespa Digital in Hamburg, 24-27 May 2011, as well as at Fespa Asia in October.

BAPC honours printers and suppliers

Both printers and suppliers have been honoured with awards at a gala dinner concluding this year’s BAPC Annual Conference. Apple Print won Business of the Year while Pepper Communications walked off with Environmental Printer of the Year. Printers voted for both Supplier of the Year and Product of the Year which were awarded to Morgana and Duraweld’s Build your own Service facility respectively. Mike Moradian, managing director of London-based Print Express, was awarded life membership of the BAPC in recognition of his services to the BAPC and to the industry.

Fujifilm Europe has entered into partnership with LithoTechnics to supply Metrix 2010, an automated job planning system, as an extension to Fujifilm’s XMF suite of workflow solutions. 

Do staff holiday calculations now urges SME forum

The Forum of Private Business is urging firms to work out their employees’ holiday entitlements now in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises at the end of the year. The support group has added a free-to-use a free holiday entitlement calculator on its website to help small businesses following what the form described as “repeated changes to legislation that means calculating statutory annual leave entitlements has become an increasing confusing process.” Part-time staff, maternity leave and sickness absence pose a particular problem for employers.

Canon workflow tool improves LF support

Canon UK has now introduced the Helix Production Workflow v2.0. product update previewed at Ipex 2010. The modular and scalable tool incorporates enhanced job submission, document makeready, Web-to-print, workflow management and improved support for large-format printing.

Aimed at CRDs, Helix PW will be of particular benefit to organisations looking for a single, integrated workflow solution across both office and print room environments due to its seamless integration with Canon’s office scanning and print management system, Uniflow.
