Canon establishes Chair in Business Services Innovation

During a recent visit to the Dutch municipality of Venlo, Canon chairman and CEO Fujio Mitarai presented the city mayor Hubert Bruls with a gift: the Endowed Canon-Océ Chair in Business Services Innovation. The Endowed Canon-Océ Chair will be established at the Venlo campus of Maastricht University.

Roll laminator for under £4,000

Seal Graphics, the specialist mounting and laminating division within Neschen, has extended its machine range with the launch of the entry-level roll laminator, the Seal 54 EL. This new model, costing £3,958, allows printers and finishing houses new to film mounting and laminating to enter this sector of the finishing market at minimal cost. Equipped with all basic functions, the device is suited to the application of high-quality finishing and protective films, as well as double-sided adhesive films.

PrinIt! makes twinning easier

The Proskills led PrintIt! educational project aimed at encouraging youngsters into a print career has a new website which can be used by print companies as well as students/teachers wanting information on the scheme. Print waste recyclers target Scotland

J&G Environmental is boosting its presence in Scotland. The print waste company, which has its headquarters at Blandford, Dorset, is leasing a 372m2 premises on the Springkerse Industrial Estate in Stirling where it will set up a waste transfer station serving printers across the whole of Scotland.

Significant investment signals a new era for Northprint

Northprint is being transformed. For the 2011 event, which takes place in Harrogate next May, organiser IIR has committed considerable investment to create new innovations and attractions that go beyond the traditional trade show format. Atech takes on Matic soft signage finishing range

Atech has become the sole UK distributor of Matic’s range of large-format finishing equipment for the soft signage and digital textiles sector. The move means Atech can now provide one of the widest ranges of finishing equipment for the digital textile industry in the UK including industrial sewing machines/stitchers, industrial impulse welders and pneumatic eyeleting machines.

Agfa Graphics launches modular Jeti 3020 Titan

The SGIA show in the US has seen Agfa launch the Jeti 3020 Titan, what it is calling “a truly future-proof wide-format print solution which enables display producers to balance their investments, inline with business growth”. The UV-curable flatbed printer has been designed and constructed using a modular format so that, as users' demands increase, the machine’s colour and speed capabilities can be extended.

Enfocus improves PDF preflight and delivery tool

PitStop Connect 09, released in May 2010, has been updated. The package, which makes it easy for creatives to deliver print-ready PDFs, enables printers and publishers to create Connectors containing PDF specifications for preflight and delivery specifications. It can also be used to deliver other document formats - such as JPEGs or TIFFs - automatically via FTP to the receiving site or directly into an Enfocus Switch automated workflow, in that case no preflight is done.

Mactac has won the Prize for Sustainable Development awarded by Viscom-Signal ’ETIQ’ France.

Quarmby helps EFI’s to Vutek GS milestone

EFI is celebrating the sale of its 100th Vutek GS Series grand format printer. The milestone machine was bought by Leeds-based Quarmby Colour which plumped for a GS3200, 3.2m UV-curable flatbed and roll-to-roll hybrid solution. Quarmby, which already owns two Vutek QS2000 machines, opted for eight-colours plus white ink to extend its existing production capabilities.

New inks for EFI Vutek GS5000r

Q4 will see a new ink for EFI’s Vutek GS5000r 5m roll-to-roll printer. With this ink, co-branded with and qualified by 3M, output from the GS5000r on 3M media will meet the requirements of the 3M MCS warranty.
