Game on

‘Integrated print’ has become a buzz term. The key takeaway from the Fespa Global Summit at the beginning of this year was that printers have to become much more proactive in embracing other technologies and in using them within their print offering to deliver customers their much demanded campaign analytics and, in a way, to ‘re-launch’ print as a branding and communications tool for the modern era.

This month I went to north London to meet David Hyams, founder of Talking Print, which provides audio and video implanted print services. A graphic designer by training, he also has wide-format print experience, putting him in the perfect position to understand both sets of requirements and restrictions. That’s turned him into something of an evangelist for integrated print. You can read the interview in the May issue (and/or watch the video version here), but the point I want to make here is that you are not alone. So why not team up where necessary to get you to the goal line?

From the interview you’ll see that Talking Print doesn’t actually do any of it’s own print – it’s more of a consultancy and works with creatives and brands to deliver white labelled dynamic print products. And it’s happy to work direct with printers along the same lines. One of the things that makes this company so attractive is that it sources and supplies the required audio and video components from China, leaving clients to concentrate on the creative part of the project. So if you see the value in being able to deliver integrated print projects but feel need some hand-holding, why not find a partner?

And on the topic of partnerships, Image Reports has become the media partner for Fespa London 2013 VIP visitors’ campaign in conjunction with Xaar. Given that the title is focused on helping readers learn about the new and emerging opportunities that wide-format digital printing and associated technologies offers, it’s a partnership that should benefit all involved, including you. It means that as a reader of Image Reports you can receive VIP visitor status at the event; benefits include access to the VIP Club Lounge, with complimentary WiFi and refreshment, discounts and offers at restaurants and tourist attractions. Hope to see you there.
