Nearly half of printers increased output during the third quarter of 2014, according to the latest BPIF Printing Outlook survey.

The quarter reports looks at trends and forecasts in the printing industry.

Key data

    87% printers reported normal or better than normal order books during Q3
    49% increased their output during the quarter
    55% predicted trading activity to remain the same in Q4
    38% expect to see higher output levels in Q4
 
    17% said there had been a decline in trade in the print industry during the quarter

Additional facts

  • Overall output increased during Q3 and is expected to improve further in Q4

  • Costs remained stable for most

  • Nearly two-thirds (64 percent) said competitive pricing remained one of their main business concern

  • Overall improvement in the industry was slightly above forecast
