Amid a number of introductions across various print markets being made by Canon at Drupa are innovations for its Colorado M-series printer – including FLXture, a five-ink-layer printing technology that adds micro-texture to large-format prints.
An easy-to-use recipe in Prismaguide XL software intelligently prepares the layers of UVgel ink for printing. FLXture is available for new installations, as well as current users, on the latest software releases for the Colorado printer and Prismaguide XL.
In a further step to maximise productivity by reducing the need for roll changes for longer jobs, an enhanced Jumbo Roll Interface kit option now enables the Colorado printer too.
Also showing is a new UVgel Packaging System, comprising a Colorado M5W roll-to-roll printer with a Fotoba jumbo roll media loader and output trimmer and stacker. It can handle a jumbo roll (up to 2,000m long) of the same media used in litho lamination, delivering instantly dry and scratch-resistant output at up to 159m2/hr.
The FLXfinish option with the Colorado M-series offers further design creativity, enabling the addition of matte, gloss or mixed matte and gloss effects on the same print, without additional varnish. The UVgel Packaging Factory is now commercially available in the EMEA region.
Canon is also using Drupa to launch its next generation plotWave T-series and colorWave T-series large-format printers for technical documentation
The new mono plotWave T-series replaces the previous PlotWave range and comes in five different models – the T30/35, T50/55 and T75, producing up to ten A1 prints per minute and offering a media capacity of up to 1,200m on six rolls up to 914mm wide.
The colorWave T-series replaces previous ColorWave models and is available in two versions – the T60 and T65. Both models produce four A1 colour prints per minute, while the T60 offers a media capacity of four media rolls and the T65 provides additional quality modes, as well as a higher media capacity of up to 1,200m on six rolls. All models are also available as a multi-function printer, including the option of an integrated scanner and a fully integrated stacking or folding solution.
