Modular stand builder Modex Exhibitions has ordered a Mimaki JFX600-2531 UV LED flatbed and EFI Pro 32r+ roll-to-roll UV LED printer for its Banbury production facility. The new kit, due for installation in July, will replace two older Mimaki UV LED printers to deliver higher quality at faster speeds and increase capacity.

Last year, the company produced 80-120 stands per month for multiple industries, across 40 venues in the UK and Europe, and director Rob Brooks said that, other than during Covid 19, it has been growing year on year by about 20%.

Brooks said of the new investment: “We’ve been really happy with our old Mimaki flatbed – they are robust, reliable and just do what we need them to do on a daily basis – so why wouldn’t we continue that experience and also benefit from the improvements that the new generation printer offers?”

He added: “I have known Sue Hayward, the commercial director of CMYUK, for many years, so when it came to replacing our print equipment, she was the first port of call. We have bought hardware and materials from CMYUK for several years now. We’re very happy with the service we get, and know should we have any issues at all, we can just phone and they will be dealt with, which for a time critical business is very reassuring.”

The Mimaki JV600-2513 UV LED flatbed printer is available in 6-colours and offers a maximum print area of 2.5m x 1.3m and a media thickness of 60mm, printing up to 1200dpi and at a maximum speed of up to 200m2/hr.

The EFI Pro 32r+  UV LED model handles rolls up to 3.2m wide plus dual roll printing (2 x 1.6m). It delivers a 1200dpi resolution and offers white and/or clear ink plus other options to elevate its utility.  A roll-to-roll workflow automates the complete printing and finishing process on-the-fly, while double-sided printing, vertical slitting and trimming, plus Media Wizard to improve stock management of remaining material roll lengths, and printing customer information on the front of the media, is also available.

“Our rate of growth has led us to an EFI industrial roll-to-roll printer. We need greater capacity, increased speeds and faster throughput, and we’re sure that the 32r+ will deliver on all fronts,” says Brooks.

Modex also purchases its materials from CMYUK and now exclusively uses UFabrik Blackback UV for all its stand build work.
