Moss UK’s visit to Multipanel UK

Moss has recorded more than six tonnes of plastic and 4.3 tonnes of aluminium being recycled after completing its first collection of its closed-loop scheme.

It was launched in 2024 in collaboration with Multipanel UK and Perspex Distribution and was designed to underscore the dedication to minimising waste and maximising resource utilisation across the three businesses and throughout the supply chain.

Multipanel UK’s Alupanel ACP offers a low carbon footprint thanks to its production in Kent. The panels are distributed by Perspex Distribution from Essex, with Moss undertaking all fabrication and printing at its site in St Neots for supply to the customer.

Once at the end of their life, the panels are collected by Moss with all waste trimmed using a guillotine cutter and separated into aluminium and Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) streams in Birmingham.

The aluminium is baled, crushed and shipped to a UK aluminium smelter, contributing to the UK’s supply chain. Meanwhile, the LDPE core is ground into small pellets, which are returned to Multipanel UK and formed into a new core.

Mike Hamling, group account director at Moss UK, said: “We are delighted to be part of this recycling initiative, offering products with robust green credentials.

“Sustainability is fundamental to all Moss’s global operations and these strong relationships with like-minded suppliers highlight the Group’s dedication to offering sustainable and innovative solutions for our extensive client base.”

The closed loop scheme is just one of Moss UK’s commitments to provide eco-friendly options for clients that not only meet their requirements but also contribute to reducing environmental impact.

By collaborating closely across the supply chain, the business ensures that every project contributes to shared sustainability objectives, fostering a greener future for all.
