Darren Moorhouse, head of sales at Arc UK Technologies

What is having the greatest impact on your business at the moment?

With global uncertainty in the market and political and world affairs, business is in a strange place. Here at ARC we are fortunate to work across a huge diverse portfolio of clients across many industry sectors. Our diverse offering and global footprint helps us stay strong versus some of our competitors.

Where do you see the greatest wide-format opportunities?

For us it has to be in the retail, fashion and the fast-moving consumer goods markets.

What would/what is making your day-to-day operations easier?

The huge investment we have made in the past 18 months has really simplified our operations allowing us to constantly innovate and bring more sustainable solutions to all.

What is your favourite bit of kit?

The Acuity! It has given us the ability to take on more jobs than ever and prints remarkably high quality on both rigid and flexible media.

Thanks to its LED curing technology, it has massively increased our throughput and transformed our business, all while lowering our energy consumption.

What is the best bit of business advice you have been given?

Listen, keep everything simple and bring worthwhile solutions to clients that problem solve and add value.

What is your proudest achievement?

If you are asking with ARC then it has to be being the fastest growing and most profitable division across the ARC empire last year.

But personally, it is being recognised by my peers and being rewarded for my hard work with trips to California to present to our board.

Where do you see your business going in five years?

We want to constantly grow; we will look to acquire like-minded business that add value to our overall stratergy.

How long have you been in the industry? What attracted you to it?

Too long! It’s been 34 years. I was attracted by the fast pace, technology, seeing great work produced across multiple materials and campaigns being delivered globally.

What is the key to your business’ success?

A listening culture, a learning culture. We also have a constant desire to innovate and be leaders in sustainability.

You have recently invested in a Fujifilm Acuity Ultra Hybrid LED printer. Why this product and how has it helped your company?

We were looking for a true hybrid that could take pressure off our existing large format flat beds and give us a great entry into fabric printing. Using this technology we haven’t had to invest into Dye sub and we have greatly reduced any need to outsource work to other partners.

What are your impressions of the Fujifilm Acuity Ultra Hybrid LED?

Incredible kit, super quality, highly versatile, great value for money, lower energy use.

How was the installation process?

Very slick, the installation team stayed with us and helped train all of our operators.

What other investments if any does the company have lined up?

None currently are on the books but as and when the right opportunity comes up, we will consult and take forward.
