Walstead CE’s plant in Kraków has closed
Walstead CE, the Central European division of the Walstead Group, has closed its point-of-sale (POS) operation in Kraków, Poland.
The closure is part of Walstead’s ongoing Platform Rationalization programme.
Janusz Serafin, managing director POS and Co-packing at Walstead CE, added: “Through this initiative, Walstead CE focuses on strengthening core print activities while adapting its platform to serve evolving non-traditional print customers.
POS customers continue to be served from Walstead CE’s sites in Austria, Czechia, Slovenia and Poland and through a network of certified suppliers. Around 30 employees from Kraków moved to other Walstead CE locations.
Walstead CE has commissioned the plant remarketing specialist Allaoui Graphic Machinery with the sale of the equipment.
The main item is an Inca Onset X2 HS UV flatbed inkjet press with two ABB robots. It is joined by an Agfa Jeti Tauro H2500 LED hybrid printer from 2017, Kongsberg digital cutting tables, a large-format flatbed die-cutter, and various laminating and gluing equipment. The equipment is in Kraków and available individually or as a package.
Walstead has been reshaping its continental platform for several years. It entered Poland in 2018, when it completed the takeover of LSC Poland and rebranded it as Walstead CE. Since then the group has concentrated production on fewer sites, aiming to match capacity to a changing market.
The plant in Kraków produced digitally printed POS and in-store marketing (IMS) materials.
