Mutoh will use Drupa to preview its first roll-to-roll UV LED printer based on the XpertJet printer platform. The new XpertJet 1682UR is a dual-headed 64in wide printer that uses Mutoh’s SVHC free US61 series inks

The inks – available in CMYKW and varnish, and available in 800ml packs, meet the current and anticipated EU regulations on chemical use. They are free from SVHC and CMR category 1 substances, and are compatible with a wide variety of substrates.  The inks, said to provide excellent adhesion, scratch resistance and flexibility, offer elongation of up to 200%.

The XPJ-1682UR, featuring two 8-channel monoblock 1440 nozzle printheads in a staggered setup and two 4in (101.6 mm) UV LED lamps, achieves print resolutions up to 1440 x 1440dpi.

The machine offers multiple automated calibration, including bi-directional alignment, media feed adjustment, remaining media tracking and a nozzle area select feature which detects and compensates for missing nozzles. Mutoh said it can produce five-layer graphics without media pull back.
