This spring – for the 18th consecutive year – we once again asked the UK’s wide-format digital inkjet print company chiefs to undertake the annual Widthwise Survey and provide us with business data that we could analyse and compile into this independent report. We were not disappointed – a massive thank you to the 110 companies that did just that, enabling us to deliver what is a grassroots data based overview of the sector.

Within this Widthwise Report 2025 you’ll find graphics depicting the data gathered, plus analysis of, and commentary on, all the findings. You’ll also find editorial features relating to key issues identified by those findings.

“We took part in this year’s Widthwise Survey because it gives a real snapshot of where the wide-format industry is heading, and it’s important to benchmark ourselves against the challenges and opportunities our peers are experiencing. Reports like Widthwise are vital as they highlight trends, customer demands and market shifts that help us all plan for the future. I’d strongly encourage other wide-format printers to get involved in 2026 – the more voices we have, the more accurate and valuable the insight will be for the whole industry.”

– Nathan Swinson-Bullough, managing director, Imageco

“Since we heard about the Widthwise Survey, we felt compelled to take part as we are a small piece of the puzzle, as are our friends in the trade. For ourselves, we find it really useful to see what other businesses of smaller and larger sizes are doing in terms of trends, turnovers, machine brands or markets that seem to be growing without it being too personal. I am a strong believer that it’s only a real true reflection if as many people take part as possible. Even though we are not the largest, we certainly are interested and represent the industry and encourage others to spend a few minutes to engage and fill out their profile and equally take a look at how that fits in with the overview countrywide. It’s not a competition, but it is an industry we all love and needs to grow a community that values the growth going forward (as well as not enter diminishing markets and make mistakes).”

– Mark Baker, director, CiM Signs & Graphics

“The wide-format industry has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years and Widthwise is the ideal tool to compare our own successes with the general direction of travel for our industry. We contribute to a number of industry surveys but it can be difficult to draw conclusions when you are comparing a wide-format printer with a magazine printer for example. Widthwise is perfect because it surveys other printers with similar equipment to our own and from this year’s survey, I can tell that we still operate in something of a niche (textile printing for garments) and that very few others are considering expanding into our market. Like any survey, Widthwise is only as good at the data being submitted and the more companies that take part, the better Widthwise will become – if you didn’t participate last time and you’re in the wide-format sector, I strongly urge you to contribute to the next edition.”

– Jonathan Dul, managing director, MiRiCal Emblems

“The Image Reports Widthwise report is a unique and valuable insight into the large-format print sector. The annual report presents factual information across a variety of subjects specific to our industry in a clear and concise format, and I have welcomed being invited to participate and to contribute to such highly regarded industry journal. By contributing, I believe the report becomes more accurate and I would encourage all businesses within the sector, large or small to share their thoughts.”

– Matt Tydeman, director, Imaginators

“Reports such as Widthwise are a valuable industry resource and provide a beneficial, independent insight into the market – the latest innovations, technologies and market trends. As one of the UK’s leading full-service providers of traditional and digital signage solutions, that knowledge is invaluable to our team. Astra Group has been proud to contribute for a number of years now and I would encourage any business with a relevant and vested interest in the sector to do so.”

– Paul Dyke, group sales director, Astra Group
