Durst Como’s new Italian facility is in the works

Durst Group has started work on a new €20 million facility dedicated to textile printing.

The new centre will be built in Como, a place renowned for Italy’s textile district and underlines the company’s long-term ambitions in growing the textile decoration market.

The new Durst Como hub will focus on the development of inkjet technologies, software, applied research and advanced digital textile printing solutions.

The investment follows Durst’s acquisition of inkjet specialist Aleph, which has now been fully integrated into the business, and forms part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its position in industrial textile printing.

Christoph Gamper, CEO and co-owner of Durst Group, said: “Como has been printing the world’s textiles for generations. We are not here to pass through. We are here to stay. Durst Como is a long-term commitment: European technology, built here, for the world.”

The new facility will become Durst’s third development and production site and is expected to play a key role in the company’s fashion and home textile activities.

Durst said it has invested more than €50 million in its textile business over the past 12 years and is targeting a doubling of group revenues within the next five years, supported by continued growth in digital textile printing technologies.
