Icon expands via event company acquisition

In a move designed to strengthen its event and brand services portfolio Icon has bought event production company MEI.?John Francis, managing director of Icon, said: "There is an obvious synergy between our two businesses and there is no doubt that this new arrangement will bring real benefit to both existing and new customers in terms of the depth of experience and breadth of knowledge we are now able to offer."?

Icon has over 50 years of experience in signage and branding. It employs nearly 70 full time staff, and offers creative design, digital and screen printing and project management services across the company's range of signage solutions.?

Richard Dale, head of MEI, said: "Becoming part of Icon's international organisation is an exciting move for all of us at MEI. ?With both companies already involved in a number of high profile sports and launch events in the coming year and with extensive international opportunities in the pipeline I believe that this is an opportunity for event production to reach new levels."

The acquisition comes a year after Icon's MBO and sees the company fulfilling its promise to look for new opportunities in products and services that will strengthen its offerings to both existing and prospective clients. MEI has already moved its operations and all staff to Icon's headquarters in Sidcup, Kent, and work is already underway on the redevelopment of a building on this site. ?This will provide additional design and production facilities to complement those already utilised by Icon for the signage side of its business.
