Canon launches Oce Arizona 2200 Series

New from Canon is the Oce Arizona 2200 Series of UV flatbed printers – comprising the Oce Arizona 2260 and 2280.

The printers, launching at Drupa, handle rigid media and objects up to 50.8mm thick and as large as 250 x 308cm, printing four, six or eight-colour (CMYK, light cyan, light magenta, white and varnish) - the series allows users to add additional ink channels at any time.

Canon said the printers provide “sellable printed graphics and objects at print speeds up to 63.4m2/hr”. A Roll Media Option is available for unattended overnight printing on flexible media up to 2.2m wide.

An Automated Printhead Maintenance System provides hands-free printhead cleaning in less than 25 seconds per colour according to Canon. The new Onyx Thrive workflow solution coupled with the Océ ProCut digital cutting system, further optimises productivity.

A patented Active Pixel Placement Compensation technology promises uniform print geometry across the flatbed table and Roll Media option. And a new UV curing system with improved efficiency and reduced heat output allows printing onto a wider range of heat-sensitive flexible media, including thin film and self-adhesive PVCs.

Mathew Faulkner, European marketing manager for Wide Format Group, Canon Europe, said: “Right now, the opportunity for mid-volume PSPs to grow and diversify is enormous. But in order to do this successfully, they must offer speed and efficiency alongside print quality, as the demands of consumers are constantly evolving. The Océ Arizona 2200 series provides a flexible and scalable solution with decreased delivery times and high-quality printing and finishing on a diverse range of materials.”
