Is Mimeo.com worth mimicking?

The innovation blog

The American digital printer Mimeo.com’s online proposition isn’t quite as expansive as da Vinci’s pitch to Sforza but it’s pithier. On its homepage (www.mimeo.com), the company offers: “Print now and save 50%”. Other offers include free shipping, 50% off your first order and delivery by 8.30am for orders placed by 10pm the night before. Where many print websites offer woolly, wordy positioning statements, Mimeo.com offers a series of succinct statements with the proposition that it is “America’s No1 overnight printer” at the forefront.

The vibrant company, which has attracted investment from Goldman Sachs and HP and is one of the fastest growing businesses in the New York area, prints everything from posters to manuals and postcards. Last year, it acquired a UK business, led by Jamie Wardley, and in March, launched its ecommerce document services to British buyers. Digital and wide-format printers dissatisfied with their online presence could do much worse than visit Mimeo.com whose site just won an award from the Printing Industries of America.
