Case study supplied by Fujifilm

French-based wide format printer, SDPS Poinçon, has seen a boost in quality and productivity after investing in an Onset X2 from Fujifilm – its third Onset wide format inkjet platform investment in four years.

A major player in the French POS market, SDPS Poinçon is based in Saint Denis sur Sarthon, Normandy. The company designs, creates and manufactures POP and POS displays, billboards and other promotional tools, which it supplies to some of the biggest national and international brands through its extensive network of marketing and communication agency clients. SDPS offers a full service to clients, covering all stages of the print production process, from design to distribution – aided by a mix of screen and digital wide format presses, a combination of analogue and digital cutting systems and a wide range of finishing equipment, all in-house.

Having already invested in an Onset S40 platform in 2012 and again in 2014, SDPS added the Onset X wide format inkjet press in April 2016. Capable of printing onto a wide variety of rigid and flexible materials, the Onset X2 is the leading UV flatbed platform for the production of high quality, high impact display graphics with outstanding productivity for indoor and outdoor display.

SDPS President Régis Broussin, and Technical Director Richard Charrier are clear on the benefits this addition to the SDPS production arsenal has made:

"We had tremendous confidence in the Onset range and in the combination of Inca Digital hardware and Fujifilm technology that it represents,” explains Regis Broussin. “We wanted to boost our productivity still further and we chose to invest in the Onset X2 because it was the best value for money we could find. In fact, we’re confident that it is simply the best machine in its class on the market. We replaced our original Onset S40 platform with the new X2 model in April 2016, and it has delivered a significant productivity gain, which has enabled us to substantially reduce customer turnaround times. We are running our two Onset presses in two to three shifts per day, depending on demand.”

"The Onset X2 has also enabled us to upgrade the quality of the print, and thus the products we manufacture and sell,” adds Richard Charrier. “This has allowed us to move into markets that we could not operate in before – working for customers who demand this exceptionally high level of quality."

Broussin concludes: "We are very satisfied with the performance of the Onset X2 both in terms of its productivity and quality. One year on from installation, we have found ourselves slightly ahead of our forecasts in terms of the increased speed of production we had anticipated, which has been a very pleasant surprise. We have found the Onset X2 to be an extremely reliable machine and the up-time has proven to be exceptional."

Graham Leeson, Head of Communications & Sales Enablement, Fujifilm Graphic Systems Europe, said: “We’re delighted that SDPS Poinçon’s investment in the Onset range and in Fujifilm inkjet technology has enabled it to produce such excellent results for its customers.

“We look forward to continuing our working partnership with SDPS this year, as it continues to maximise the potential of its investment, demonstrating to its customers and competitors alike just what this machine is capable of.”
