swissQprint to set up UK subsidiary

swissQprint, which has sold its UV flatbed printers in the UK exclusively through Spandex UK since 2011, is to cease doing so and is investing in a new subsidiary to become the sole provider of sales, servicing and application support in the region.
Erskine Stewart, who has been involved in the wide-format signage and packaging market in the UK for over 15 years, will be managing director of swissQprint UK. He will establish the new operation in Bracknell, Berkshire. The site will include a demonstration centre featuring the latest innovations from swissQprint, including the new Karibu roll-to-roll printer and Nyala 3 flatbed printer. A full range of consumables, spare parts and ink will also be distributed from the new UK subsidiary. There will be a transition period starting in October 2019 to ensure continued support and service to customers in the UK. The ongoing development of swissQprint’s product portfolio to take it into adjacent markets such as packaging, specialist print and industrial applications, is cited as the reason for the move. Maurus Zeller, product manager at swissQprint, expressed his appreciation for the long-standing cooperation with Spandex and said: “We intend to focus activities in the UK and to further expand our services.” “Being the exclusive distributor of such an innovative product range has really helped Spandex expand into new markets but all good things must come to an end and we wish swissQprint continued success in the UK,” added Leon Watson, general manager of Spandex UK.
