Colouration buys UK's first Oc? Arizona 550 GT?

London-based Colouration has installed the UK's first Oc? Arizona 550 GT UV flatbed printer. Managing director Tony Dennington, said: "This is going to open the door to so many new ideas, things that we hadn't even talked about in the past. Our creative team are falling over themselves coming up with new applications."

Dennington, who first saw the system at the Oc? headquarters in Venlo in 2009, added: "We did some tests of our own, and the quality was as good as, or better, than anything else we looked at." He expects the printer, which was installed in late January, to have a significant impact on the 31 strong company which produces a lot of visual merchandising for the retail sector. Before installing the Oc? Arizona 550 GT printer, Colouration would print onto rolls and then mount the substrate onto board or perspex. With the new printer it can print direct to a wide variety of media types, though it has also chosen to take the roll media option. The company has also opted for the white ink option to augment the four-colour output with under- and over-printing capability.
