EU Ecolabel for Arjowiggins Graphic prooducts

Arjowiggins Graphic has a new EU Ecolabel certification for a number of its sustainable recycled stocks, including the Maine 1 Face and Cocoon Silk and Gloss substrates used by the wide-format print sector. The EU Flower accreditation is awarded based on a product’s impact on the environment throughout its life cycle – from raw material extraction through to distribution and disposal. It guarantees: lowest air emissions, greenhouse gas emissions and impact on the environment (raw material selection); highest standards of process water cleaning; reduced electric and fossil energy consumption; waste recovery; and a reduction of risks to human health related to the use of hazardous substances.

A further step undertaken by Arjowiggins Graphic is the development of the Environmental Benefit Statement. Printers and designers looking to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability through the use of recycled papers can now request an environmental benefit statement providing figures about the equivalent reduction in landfill for any given print job using recycled papers. It can be integrated into documents to highlight CSR commitments with a summary of how environmental impact has been produced through the use of recycled stocks, based on measures such as water, energy, carbon dioxide consumption and wood.
