EFI Fiery makes its mark

EFI has made a number of announcements regarding Fiery, including the unveiling of its Fiery FS100 Pro, its most productive, scalable and integrated front-end system for digital print engines. This coincides with news that the Fiery digital front ends (DFEs) are the first in the industry to achieve JDF certification for digital printing.

The new Fiery FS100 Pro will enable EFI MIS users to achieve a better integration between EFI MIS systems and Fiery Driven digital print engines for greater automation and efficiency.

The Fiery FS100 Pro now carries the VIGC PDF Rip Audit: Perfect label, the first and only digital front end that has achieved this 100% compliance certification. The VIGC PDF Rip audit tests the rendering of PDF/X-4 features and only awards a ‘Perfect’ certification to those systems that are able to render all features as expected.

“FS100 Pro addresses the print provider’s need for vibrant image quality delivered quickly, efficiently and cost effectively, allowing the faster completion of complex work and the ability to maintain a competitive advantage in a demanding marketplace,” said Toby Weiss, senior vice president and general manager of EFI’s Fiery business unit.

The first digital print engines to feature Fiery FS100 Pro will be commercially available in the first quarter of 2013.

Meanwhile, EFI Fiery System 9R2 and newer servers have been awarded the JDF1.3 Integrated Digital Printing Interoperability Conformance Specification (ICS) certification. As a result of this certification, Fiery Driven devices should be easier than ever to integrate with workflow systems from pre-press all the way to printing.

The certification underscores EFI's commitment to an industry-standard, open platform that supports workflow integration.
