Mimaki launches slated for Fespa London

Fespa London will see Mimaki introduce a new latex ink to the European market. It will also show its new UJV-500 UV roll-to-roll printer using a specially formulated LUS-200 stretchable inkset, and will announce details of an extended media profile database for all Mimaki wide-format printers.

The LX101 ink has been developed for the company’s JV400-130/160LX latex inkjet printers. The LX101 inks means users can run a six-colour - CMYK plus orange and green - process for jobs requiring a higher colour gamut. It’s worth noting that white ink is not available for LX101 inks. However, LX100 white ink can be used in combination with LX101 inks.

Pricing will be announced closer to the first European commercial shipment which is expected September.

The UJV-500 is a UV roll-to-roll machine with speeds up to 60m2/hr. It uses new LUS-200 stretchable inks developed with 3M - inks that have a six-year outdoor warranty. Full details will be announced to the European market at Fespa London. Pricing has yet to be decided but commercial availability is expected in the UK from late autumn.

Mimaki will also use Fespa to provide details of an extended media profiles database, which market manager EMEA Mike Horsten said: “Will be the biggest database of media profiles in Europe”.  In February Mimaki announced it had partnered with Color Concepts, a creator of media profiles, to make available independent, third party certification of media for use with the Mimaki JV400LX printer and latex inks, and at that time said it would be expanding the programme to other Mimaki printers and inks.

The database will be accessible via new Mimaki user Web portal ‘mymimaki.com’ which is launching 26 March with a competition to win a VIP package to Fespa London. After the show the site will gradually be populated with ‘how to’ knowledge and include a Mimaki merchandise shop.
