Roland uses Print Efficiently to entice commercial printers into wide-format

Roland will use the Print Efficiently 2013 event, which kicks off tomorrow (1 October), to demonstrate how its wide-format tools can help commercial printers diversify and grow their business with high value, high margin products.

Mat Drake, business manager commercial print, said: “Low up-front capital investment and high ROI are hallmarks of Roland’s wide-format digital print solutions and the key to wide-format’s huge success generally, so is its incredible flexibility. Essentially, if you can think it, you can probably print it. The output is vast – from POS, banners, garment decoration, signage, labels and decals to vehicle graphics, posters or personalised direct mail, textured print, packaging prototypes and proofing.  All printed with exceptional photorealistic image quality and on-demand.  We will be demonstrating a number of these applications at the event.”

Apart from print kit, Roland will show output on a new substrate called Yupo Tako (Octopus in Japanese), which has been provided by Antalis. PVC free and available in a variety of grades for different printing methods, Yupo Tako has a micro suction structure that enables it to stick to flat surfaces without adhesive.

Drake added: “What wide-format offers the commercial printer is simple: a very cost-effective, high value product with a strong margin and a vibrant future. We are all looking for new markets and new reasons to speak to our customers and increase our traction with them. Roland’s technology gives the commercial printer this.”

- Roland has just introduced the VersaUV LEF-20, a desktop flatbed UV machine that prints directly onto items measuring up to 508mm in width, 330mm length and 100mm deep.
