GBM Group has installed an Elitron Kombo SD+ from the Italian-made digital cutter range recently launched into the UK graphics market. The group also ordered Elitron’s Packaging Software.
The solution, purchased via Atech, was delivered at the end of February.
The cutter includes a Seeker System which identifies the image on a board, finds the reference points, finds the image and cutting profile in its memory and proceeds to cut with no more intervention from the operator.
The Projection System, part of the Seeker, projects a series of jobs on the bed so the operator can use offcuts by placing the waste media under the projected image and, as long as it fits (a mouse control used on the bed itself can rotate or move the projected images to nest them), the Elitron will then proceed to cut the jobs out of any number of board/vinyl fragments placed on the bed.
Elitron is an Italian company that has previously sold machines into the leather goods, packaging, foam cutting, gasket cutting industries before taking on Atech to target the graphics market.
